We went to the store the other day, and as we were checking out, our cashier had to go look at a younger cashier's register. While she was gone, he rang up our stuff for us, and came upon our cheese. (Mind you, we had went to stock up, haha!). He rings up a large block... "That's a lot of cheese."
Next were a couple of smaller but still large blocks of sharp cheese. "Y'all must like cheese," he continues. Then he picks up the block of Mozzarella cheese. "You guys must eat a LOT OF CHEESE!", he says in consternation. I nod my head and mention that we eat it ever day, as he spies bags of cheese sticks. "Oh my word, cheese STICKS?!" He gasps. I just laughed and nodded my head... and then he sees Mama throwing more items on the conveyor belt, and he asked "Um, is she with you?"
"Ya..." I answered.
"Oka- OHHHHHHHH! Okay..." he said, with a hint of understanding in his face as he noticed all the little ones around Mommy. It wasn't until then that I realized that he thought Tori and I, with two toddlers, were buying all that cheese, hahaha!

I found this quote the other day, and thought I would share it :)
“But concerning that day or that hour, no one knows, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father." (Mark 13:32) "Just as the Savior is willing to endure hunger, and thirst, and other suffering of this kind, so also, as man, he is ignorant of "the great day". For he sometimes speaks as God, and sometimes as man, in order that he may show himself to be both true God and true man. As God he said to his disciples, "Our friend Lazarus is asleep", when no one had told him. As man he asked the sister of Lazarus, when he came to them at the end of his journey, "Where have you laid him?" He who, when far off, knew that Lazarus was dead, how could he be ignorant, when present, of the place where the body of Lazarus was? It is utterly improbable that he should have known the one thing and been ignorant of the other. But the truth is, that he knew as God, while he was ignorant of both as man. Therefore, in the same way, he both did not know and yet knew "that day and that hour". As man he did not know. As God he knew."

I think I'll have to "eat" my words...
I have told people many times that "I don't like any cake, except some chocolatey cakes, and only if they are done right". In my mind I was thinking of a chocolate cake or the gingerbread cake we make once a year as the only edible cakes out there, and only when they had chocolate frosting on them.
Well.
Tori gets out the dictionary this morning and her eyes fall upon the word cookies. I hear, "Cookies are cakes?!" from the kitchen, and I was like "What!?". She explained, "It says right here cookies are "a small flat or slightly raised cake"."
In my mind is running, "Oops. I can't say I don't like cakes. I love cookies..."
"Let's see what the definition of cake is... "A baked mixture of flour, eggs, milk, and sugar"", she announced. That would happen to fit the definition of brownies, cinnamon swirl bread, cinnamon rolls, and many other things. All of which I enjoy immensely.
In other words... I like more kinds of cake than the kinds I dislike. And I might want to know completely what a word includes before I say it's not high on my list of favorites. Haha!

Snowflakes...
I've been looking forward to quilling some snowflakes ever since I found some on Pinterest last July when I first discovered quilling. I really wanted to do it while there was snow outside, because I'm crazy like that, so I was thrilled when I woke up to a light dusting of snow on the ground :). It wasn't enough to have any fun in, but it was enough to make quilling seem the perfect activity :)!
I was especially pleased that Tori agreed to help me! It was the first project that she's ever helped me with (and might be the last given her interest after trying it... heehee!), but we had fun :)
Our snowflake :)! I need to get a frame for it, but I love how it turned out...

Christmas Day, 2014
We sing Happy Birthday to Jesus before we enjoy our breakfast cinnamon rolls every Christmas :).
Gorgeous Tori!
Pretty Bethi :)!
Josiah eager to get someone else's gift open ;).
Peter has done this puzzle (and another like it) countless times in the past three weeks!!!
Josiah was especially interested in the straw out of the cup Bethi has had for months... heehee ;).
I made the girls Frozen hats... Emmi's was especially fun with all the edgings :).
Tori asked for Toothless... and I was more than happy to make it, because I wanted to make it up sooooo bad, haha :)! I used this pattern, and it was soooo much fun :)!!!! There are a lot of fun techniques, the toes were especially enjoyable :).
I shortened the ears and changed up the shape of the head... but it was the most fun I have had working on a patterned project for a while :).
And this tutorial for microwaveable bowl covers was awesome! I figured it out without help from Mama, which is impressive, and good, since they were for her, haha ;).
Josiah, A.K.A. Seaweed's thoughts on his fish hat... lol...
Love. this. picture. Hahaha! Telling Tori not to take his picture again, lol!
So, my hands are always cold, and Tori was complaining about it one day, and I told her if she had an issue with it, she needed to buy me hand warmers. Haha! Daddy took it upon himself to do so ;). I need it right now... lol...
Tori loves and excels at music, so this was perfect for her :).
Peter and his "baby Olaf". "He's Olaf's dad!" :).
He is also a knight...
While Josiah is the dragon that Andrew and Peter are to train rather than conquer, haha :).
<3
Love this picture :)...
The younger girls in their matching shirts :).
Daddy was very right when he said the boys would love this race track, haha :)!
Princess Emmi the waiter :).

"Saturdays and Teacakes", by Lester L. Laminack
A friend told me about "Saturdays and Teacakes" a couple years ago, and I have wanted to read it ever since. It fully lived up to my expectations :)! This book was adorable! The pictures were sweet, the story was told in a very engaging way, and I loved to see the relationship of this little boy to his Grandma!
"Saturdays and Teacakes" is told from the perspective of a little boy living in a tiny town. One Saturday he wheels his bike out onto the street, just like he does every Saturday. Passing all the landmarks he holds familiar, he pulls into the yard of a very special person, who is waiting for him every Saturday... just for him! He helps his Ma-maw do some yard work, and then they bake and eat a delicious snack together before he heads back home to wait, with eager anticipation, for next Saturday.

Happy New Year :)!!!
May the new year remind us of God's mercy and compassion to each of us. Just as this is a fresh new year, with no mistakes in it yet, Jesus stands waiting to cloth us in His righteousness and take our mistakes on Himself so that we should be called blameless children of God! I pray this year will be a year full of growth in our Lord and an open heart to see all the blessings that HE blesses with :)!
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature:
old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.
~2 Corinthians 5:17
Blessings,
Bri :)
